Development within the AONB and on the fringes is an ongoing issue with proposed new housing and potential expansion of Bristol airport. New equestrian related development has led to new national guidance for such development in protected landscapes and the loss of dark skies due to lighting from new development is evident. The area lacks sufficient public transport to link urban areas to the AONB and increases in traffic are detracting from people’s enjoyment of the area.
